If anyone has any suggestions on how to try to fix this problem, it'd be greatly appreciated! It took me a long time to feel comfortable trying out a new DAW and I spent a couple days setting Reaper up the way I like and if I can't get this scroll function to work it might end up being a dealbreaker.Multiswipe crack. Here's the odd thing though - if Reaper ISN'T the active window open, (for example if I have a smaller window from another program active on top, or the taskbar "hidden icons" menu open) and I put my cursor over where Reaper is and do a multiswipe mousescroll action, it works exactly the way I want/configured, but the second I click over the Reaper it defaults to scrolling up/down again.
Now the only way I can get it to function the way I want again is to check the box that says "Treat scroll messages from some laptop trackpads as mousewheels" which returns the function to horizontal zoom but it's WAY too sensitive (zooming ALL the way in or ALL the way out, even if I swipe very lightly, no matter what Reaper settings I fiddle with) and I don't want to change around my computer's scroll sensitivity settings every time I use Reaper to then have to change them back when I'm done. This happens no matter what I change the configuration settings to, including resetting to factory defaults. Now, scrolling this way leads to a vertical scroll as if I'm scrolling the scrollbar. BUT all of a sudden one day it stopped working correctly. I configured all my stuff and got it to work really easily with it reading in the configuration as "Mousewheel". I use a PC laptop with a trackpad and I want to make a typical double-finger-swipe up/down scrolling motion translate to a horizontal zoom in/out. I'm attempting to get into Reaper (I've been using ACID for over a decade) and I'm trying to configure it to be as similar to ACID as possible to keep it feeling natural to my motor memory, but I'm having a huge technical issue with configuring mousewheel functions.
